Physical Examination (Rheum/MSK)

Given the current pandemic precautions, the physical examination sessions may run via a flipped classroom approach. Regardless of whether we do in person or virtual teaching, I suggest that participating learners do the following:

For the first week of physical examination session (upper limb):
- Watch the following videos, by Dr. Raj Carmona, via the Rheumtutor website, via the following links:

- Examination of Hand and Wrist joints
- Examination of Elbow joints
- Examination of the shoulder joints

- On the day, you will arrive for the session at 8AM at 60 Murray Street, 2nd floor, rheumatology division, room number 2-208A (large conference room).

- Here, we will maintain the same physical distancing rules, and within the hour session, I will answer any questions you have and also demonstrate the physical exam maneuvers by also utilizing the available models.

For the second week of physical examination session (lower limb):
For the second week, the lower limb session, the steps are exactly the same as the above, only this time, please watch these corresponding videos

- Examination of the hip joint
- Examination of the Knee joint
- Examination of the foot and ankle joints (this is not mandatory but it is v. useful).

For both sessions, please also try to take time to go through some of the pictures from Dr. Lori Albert's rheumatology atlas, as per relevant region covered above: http://www.rheumexamatlas.com/
